Research & Development Committee

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE R&D COMMITTEE

The R&D Committee (RDC) assists the Medical Center Director in fulfilling responsibilities for the facility’s research program. The RDC is responsible for establishing policies to ensure that all research in which the facility is to be engaged has been reviewed and approved for the ethical use of human subjects, animals, and biohazards.  The RDC also reviews the scientific merit and clinical impact of all research projects.

The RDC is made up of VA Investigators and research personnel, appointed by the Medical Center Director, who volunteer their time to undertake this essential work.

More information about the RDC can be found in VHA Directive 1200.01.  A complete list of VHA Directives can be accessed by clicking here.

RDC meets the 1st Wednesday of every month.  All projects, continuing review, amendments, personnel changes, etc, need to be submitted in VAIRRS.  Forms and instructions are located in VAIRRS document libraries.  Please click here to learn more about VAIRRS or contact the RDC Coordinator for further guidance.
